Team Building: A Hands On Experience in Creating a Team Charter

Wednesday, November 8, 2017, 6:00pm – 8:30pm

Casey Coven will share her multi-industry experience with us as she discusses:

How to build a functional team, create a positive environment, and achieve the desired outcomes we all want when building a business team.

A true team agrees on a set of goals and how to accomplish those goals. The other key factor is deciding as a team what behaviors are acceptable by team members. These are group decisions as any team to be successful must have buy in from the team members. This session will teach you how to build a “Team Charter” document that will work for the entire team.

Casey started her career as a public school teacher in Hampton, VA. She left teaching to earn a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration at Southern Illinois University. Casey’s next career was in retail, where she started as a temporary Christmas employee, and ended as a District Jewelry Manager supervising 17 locations with annual sales of over $35 Million.

Mortgage Banking was her next career stop. Casey started as a loan officer, and just three months later, she was managing a branch office. The company promoted Casey to Vice President of Branch Operations just two months after that. She left that company and opened a Mortgage Banking Company with her sister and brother-in-law. Casey was a business owner for four years before leaving the company.

Retail liquidation was the next move. Casey works in both the financial side of the business and at the store level. Casey, with her sister Claire, purchased a Cruise Planners Franchise in 2013. The Business is Cruise Planners – 411 to Travel. They are sponsors of the Sister Sail Away Cruise in January, for ABWA members, friends and family, and donate part of the proceeds to SBMEF.

Her outside activities include membership in the MD Capital Chapter of ABWA. Casey served as the National President from 2009-2010. In 2012 she was selected as a 2013 Top Ten Business Woman of ABWA. Casey currently serves as the Chapter Advisor of MD Capital Chapter and W2W Formation.
